I was thinking today about file sharing...
If file sharing is illegal, what happened to the shop that sell 2nd hand records and CDs, shouldn't that be illegal as well?
From what I can understand the reason file sharing is illegal, it's not because the artist is not getting their share cos they are not getting much of a share anyway, it's because the fat cat label guys not getting their money worth.
I can understand the argument of file sharing is like stealing, but the other way of looking at it, if you can go to a shop and test the perfume before you buy it, you can have a taste before you eat it, so why can't we have a test listen before we buy the CD?
Also, the standard of music is so dire these days, and the publishers only concentrate on 30 seconds ring tone, nobody truly appreciate the art of a good album anymore. It sickens me how often you buy an album you have to sit through 4 not so great songs to listen to a gem, which is why a test listen is definately a way forward.
